Cornwall! Days 1 & 2

Sunday, we headed off to Porthleven for a wander on the beach & some lunch. The kids loved the beach & were very excited when they saw a helicopter fly low over us.

Visit to Rachel, Tom, Mabel & Max's

As we were in Cornwall, we thought it was about time that we popped by to see the Lea-Wilson's in their gorgeous country cottage near Liskeard. They moved down last October & we haven't been to see them yet.

Mabel & Charlotte loved seeing each other again & were quickly jumping around like excited little puppies! Time to calm them down a bit so I suggested some colouring.

After a yummy lunch, it was time for some more playing. Mabel was helping Max with some walking practice.

Then Charlotte & Mabel decided they wanted to have a go on the doggy. I think Mabel found it a little difficult pushing Charlotte, but she managed it!!

Lunch with the Davis Family

We had a lovely afternoon with the Davis family. The kids all had fun in the garden running around & playing.

Mustang Sunday!

An early, cold, wet Sunday morning found us waiting outside Nelson's Diner for them to open the doors at 8.30am with a bunch of other mad Mustang owners. The waitresses face was a picture when she saw the 12 of us waiting!

So, time for breakfast - pancakes, coffee & malt shakes all round - yum yum! Mr T knew it was the only way he would get me out of bed that early on a Sunday!



Then it was off on a leisurely cross country drive to Brooklands Museum in Weybridge, where there were lots of other Mustangs to look at.

Tea Party!

Charlotte & Oliver were playing with playdoh this afternoon, making birthday cakes (seems to have been today's theme!). Then they decided they wanted to have a tea party.

Pottery painting

Ames & I took the children to the local pottery painting place. George chose a mug to paint for his Mummy's bday. Charlotte chose a Nemo type fishie to paint, then wanted to choose something to paint for my birthday.

She chose a cute little heart shaped dish, painted it pink & blue with splodges on it. She loves doing this, maybe I should try & find some cheap kits to do at home as it is quite pricey!

Hmmmm, do you think I should act surprised when I unwrap it!!!

One of Miss Charlotte's favourite things to do....

..... is painting with water in the garden! All the kids love doing it. Off they trundle into the garden with their buckets & paintbrushes. Keeps them amused for ages! They like to try & "paint" every available surface - patio, walls, wood.

Charlotte is doing really well with scissors now. She is holding them correctly & the right way up.

Home Grown Tomatoes!

At last, we have a few tomatoes ready to eat! The plants aren't doing very well as they haven't been watered every day (ooops!), so only have a few fruits on them.

We picked a couple this week to have in our ham sandwiches for lunch.

The sweetcorn, on the other hand, is doing quite well. We have some corn cobs in there somewhere, I just need to read up & find out when to harvest them!

Here is one of the pots of chilli pepper plants, they seem to be doing ok but no signs of any peppers yet.

Lottie's playhouse - still haven't got round to painting & making the curtains yet! Check out the sad looking sunflowers as well!!

Baking day

We decided to do some baking this afternoon & the children chose to make choc chip cookies - yummy!

Charlotte asked if she could pop the cookies in the oven. She even went & got the oven gloves out of the drawer ready. So I helped her pop them in carefully.

I would have taken a pic of the finished cookies, but we were too busy eating them - yum yum yum!!!

Quack quack!

Paul had the day off today & as it wasn't raining we decided to take the kids to Thatcham Discovery Centre. Charlotte wanted to take her binoculars along to see what she could see. As you can see from the pic below, not very much as she has them the wrong way around!!

We stopped halfway round the lake to say hello to the ducks & geese. Here's Lottie & George pretending to be ducks & chicks - see how George almost falls over after spinning round & round!!

As Paul was with us, I thought it was time for a group photo with my lovely little ones. I very rarely get a chance for a photo with the children in my care, so this will be one to treasure. I now just need someone to take a pic of me with the other 3 monkeys before Oliver leaves at the end of the month.

Onwards round the lake, we stopped to say hello to 2 lovely little doggies - Holly & Daisy. They were very cute & let the kids pet them lots!

As we finished our walk, I could hear a familiar cry - it was Daniel! What a lovely surprise to meet up with Oliver, Callum & Daniel who were with a friend for a day's outing.

The children got to have an extra playtime this week, extra fun as George doesn't normally get to see the other boys. They had lots of fun in the big play area & decided it would be a fun game to all go on the slide together!!
